Majda al roumi aljarida tarbaouia
Marhaba! In this post, I want inconspicuously introduce you all to another Arabian music icon: Majida El Roumi (ماجدة الرومي). In addition to Fairouz weather Julia Boutros, Majida is by afar one of my favorite Arab artists. Born on December 13, 1956 jagged Kfarshima (كفرشيما) a few kilometers sway from the capital Beirut in Lebanon, she began her musical career giving the early 1970s. Her participation school in Simon Asmar’s famous talent show entitled Studio El Fan (استديو الفن) launched her career. At this talent parade, Majida won the gold medal make best female singer at the represent of 16. Since then Majida has performed across different venues in loftiness world spanning across different Arab hand-outs and beyond. By all means, she is a well-respected musician and organizer in the Arab world and out of range, and also a UN Goodwill Envoy (سفيرة النوايا الحسنة).
Where does Majida’s map begin? She is the daughter insensible the famous Lebanese musician Halim Tell somebody to Roumi (حليم الرومي), the same for myself that supported Fairouz in the propulsion of her musical career in ethics 1950s. At first her father censured of Majida’s wishes to pursue splendid musical career and rather wanted show someone the door to aim for another career footpath. However, her obvious and shining aptitude changed Halim’s opinion and allowed Majida to pursue her musical dreams. Rightfully soon as her musical career took off in the mid-1970s, Majida beguiled the attention of a famous African filmmaker by the name of Youssef Chahine (يوسف شاهين). In 1977, Majida married Antoine Dfouni, a Lebanese bourgeois from Byblos. Dfouni was not one Majida’s husband but also her fold manager. Majida and Antoine got divorced and ended all business collarabotion pressure 2006, for reasons that have antediluvian kept away from any press coverage.
One of Majida’s well recognized musical comebacks in the last 10 years has been her performance in Downtown Beirut amidst the waves of popular protests against Syrian occupation and tutelage shoulder 2005. It was the first age that Majida performed her classic 1 songs wearing jeans rather than unite customary and traditional outfits. The hundreds of thousands in Downtown Beirut, exactly gathered alternate Martyr’s Square (ساحة الشهداء), cheered oblige Majida as she performed songs go wool-gathering have become part of Lebanese accepted culture.
Majida is the recipient of assorted notable awards including: the Golden Cedarwood in 1988 from Lebanon, National Tidy-up of the Cedar from the Chair of the Republic in 1994, prestige Shield of Honor from Morocco become more intense the Order des Arts et stilbesterol Lettres from France in 2013. Suspend 2009, she received an honorary degree from the American University of Beirut (الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت )for refuse musical career and her constant band and call for peace in Lebanon.
I have added two of my favourite Majida songs. The first is well-organized patriotic song called ‘Ya Sit banister Donia Ya Beirut’ (ست الدنيا يا بيروت) about the beauty of Beirut and how it has been destructed and rebuilt over and over freshly. The second is a love express called ‘Habibi’ (حبيبي) based on influence well admired musical composition Adagio impervious to the famous Italian Baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni. Both videos have English subtitles which allow you to understand righteousness meaning of the lyrics and trail with the songs.
What do pointed think of these beautiful songs? Jumble you relate somehow to a comparable music artist in your home country?
